Hawaii Air Permit Compliance Program
CFM Environmental LLC is pleased to announce the creation of a Hawaii specific Air Permit compliance program. At this point it looks like the program will be ready in the latter part of 2009!
Why is this program needed?
Most small and medium sized businesses with air permits simply do not have the time, labor, or specialized knowledge to take care of all the different aspects of their permit, including compliance. This results in NOV's (Notices of Violation) and most often very steep fines from the Department of Health, Clean Air Branch. Most companies hire environmental consultants to take care of these issues, which can run into quite a bit of money.
Our Compliance Program assures the permit holder that he will be in compliance at a fraction of the time and money now required.
Background
Fred Peyer, Operating Manager at CFM Environmental LLC has been working with air permits in Hawaii for over ten years and has seen just about any compliance problem possible. As a result, Fred created the frame-work for a permit specific, web-based compliance program. This program was developed specifically for small and medium sized businesses, which means it is simple to operate, fool-proof, and low cost.
What do I have to do?
The permit holder inputs the required data (for example: operating hours, fuel consumption, material throughput) on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis on his own computer. The data is collected in the field (in the case of mobile equipment) or in the plant and can then be input by a secretary in less than 3-5 minutes per day, depending on the amount of input required. Since the program is permit specific, all information required by that specific permit will show up on the input screen. There is no guesswork at all. THAT'S IT!!! That's all the permit holder has to do.
What happens to the data after I input it?
Your computer has to be hooked up to the internet. The program automatically forwards your input data to our secure web-based server where it is stored securely. From the server the data is also forwarded to our computer at CFM Environmental, where the data is checked for obvious errors by a live operator. For example, fuel consumption is calculated on an hourly basis and compared to past hourly fuel consumptions. Should there be an abnormal deviance, the permit holder will be informed by email in order to check on these figures.
The data is stored at three places (permit holder, web-based server, CFM Environmental) making it practically impossible to loose any data due to a computer crash, fire, or other calamity.
What do I get out of this program?
The program allows the permit holder to check the following at any time, from any computer connected to the internet:

The program generates the required semi-annual and annual reports for the DOH automatically. Since the program is permit specific, the report pages will be exactly like the ones included with the permit.
The program alerts the permit holder automatically of missing required inputs, upcoming deadlines, permit renewal deadline, required notices, etc.
The program also alerts the permit holder if specific permit limits are being approached, and if not corrected, when they are exceeded, resulting in a violation.
